The staff spotlight series celebrates and elevates all the people who make the UI College of Education such a special place to work. This spotlight recognizes the critical contributions our staff members make to the College of Education community in support of our faculty and students.

For the past year and a half, Bart Sonnenberg has served as Student Life Program Specialist with UI REACH, bringing more than 14 years of experience supporting college students.

UI REACH (Realizing Educational and Career Hopes) is nested in the UI College of Education and is a comprehensive transition program for college-age students with intellectual, cognitive, and learning disabilities. In his role, Sonnenberg works closely with students to enhance their independent living and social skills, helping them build confidence both on campus and beyond.

Sonnenberg earned his Master of Arts degree in Higher Education Administration from the University of Kansas and previously spent a decade working in Academic Support Programs and Housing and Residence Life at the University of Idaho. His passion has always centered on working with students, and at REACH, that’s exactly what he values most.
