The Grants and Research Services Center (GRSC) provides support for grant and research projects, training projects, and service projects in the College of Education. The GRSC:

  • assists College of Education (COE) faculty, staff and students in identifying internal and external funding sources

  • provides information and workshops for COE faculty, staff, and students on grant-related topic

  • provides support services for the development, implementation, and utilization of research, training, and service projects in the college

The College of Education faculty are currently engaged in over 32 federal, state, and private funded projects.  Over a five-year period, 7/1/2019 through 6/30/2024, COE faculty have been awarded over $64,000,000 for research, professional development, specialized student and leadership training, center development, and assessment/evaluation projects.

Professor Ariel Aloe has been appointed associate dean for research in the University of Iowa College of Education after serving in the role on an interim basis. A nationally recognized scholar in educational measurement and research synthesis, Aloe is committed to advancing research in service to schools and communities.

Gahyun Callie Sung, assistant professor of learning sciences and educational psychology in the University of Iowa College of Education, has received a $91,716 Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust grant to launch the Advanced Learning Traces (ALT) Lab, which will use sensor-based research to study how learning happens in real time—especially as tools like AI reshape how people learn and think.
