College of Education alumna Theresa Putnam Genz (09’, MA) has won the 2019 Iowa School Counselor Association Multi-Level School Counselor of the Year Award.

Alumna Janelle Brouwer, who completed the Superintendent Endorsement program in 2014, Educational Specialist in 2015, and a PhD in Educational Policy and Leadership Studies in May of 2018, is serving the Marion Independent School District as superintendent.

Jennifer Sánchez, an assistant professor in Rehabilitation and Counselor Education at the University of Iowa College of Education, was awarded the North Central Association for Counselor Education and Supervision's Research Award, which honors significant research in the profession in the areas of counseling, counselor education, or counselor supervision.

Barry Schreier, a clinical professor in Counseling Psychology in the UI College of Education and director of University Counseling Service, was awarded the Association of University and College Counseling Center’s President’s Award for Meritorious Service to the National Field of Campus Mental Health.
