Fall 2024 recruitment update
Over the past year, students from across the country have been visiting UI REACH as one of their college prospects for fall 2024. We are thrilled to say that 28 of these students will be making the University of Iowa and UI REACH their college home this year. Many of them and their families were on campus May 20-21, 2024, for summer orientation.
During the recruitment period, you may have seen social media blasts introducing these students as they confirmed their desire to attend UI REACH this fall. Huge thanks go to Barbara Mueller, our admissions coordinator, who did a masterful job of getting prospective students and families through the application and admissions process. Families noted her helpfulness in navigating the process and her responsiveness to their questions and concerns. Our staff also played a crucial role in file reviews, interviews, campus visit days, and connecting with both students and families.
The incoming class will be with us on campus again for a week in July while attending Bridge Camp, which provides an opportunity to learn about the campus, try classes, use the CAMBUS, explore Iowa City, and hang out with their new classmates. Last year’s Bridge Camp was a huge success and helped students settle into college life in a less stressful atmosphere before the official start of the fall semester.
New student spotlight
Among the students joining us this fall is Jorja Dirksen, an incoming student from Illinois. Dirksen heard the news of her acceptance to the UI REACH program by way of a heartwarming surprise from her family and high school teachers.
