Requirements
- Admission to the Teacher Education Program (TEP)
- Completion of the course requirements listed below or approved substitutes in accordance with the Teacher Education Program Policies.
- Completion of General Education CLAS Core requirements.
- All coursework must be completed prior to student teaching.
- Candidates must also earn at least a C- in all TEP Major Courses
- Sample course plans represent one way to complete a program of study. Actual course selection and sequence will vary and should be discussed with an academic advisor.

General Education Course Work
Undergraduate students pursuing a BA with a major in elementary education must satisfy the requirements: General Education CLAS Core Requirements.
- Please note the following General Education requirements can be satisfied with Elementary Education major courses
EDTL: 2122 Creativity, Imagination, Play, satisfies Literary, Visual, and Performing Arts GE
EDTL:4900 Foundations of Special Education satisfies Understanding Cultural Perspectives GE
EPLS: 4180 Human Relations for the Classroom Teacher satisfies Values and Society GE
STAT:1010 Statistics in Society satisfies Quantitative or Formal Reasoning GE - Students who are able to complete their World Language General Education with a World Language and Cultural Exploration courses are encouraged to consider EDTL:4410 Language, Power, and Multilingual Education which will count toward both Reading and ESL endorsements.
Foundation Courses:
- Students may complete the foundation courses before being admitted to the major in elementary education, but the courses are not prerequisite to admission to the major.

Gen Ed: Natural Sciences (7 s.h., including at least one lab course
One biology content course is required for the program. Students who have not previously completed another Natural Science General Education course should select SIED:3164 Introduction to Science in Society (3 s.h.). SIED:3164 fulfills both the Natural Science Without Lab General Education requirement and the program's biology content requirement. Students who do not complete SIED:3164 must complete one of the biology content courses listed below. Not all courses are offered every semester.
