Fall 2025 Recruitment Update

Over the past year, students from across the country have been visiting UI REACH as one of their college prospects for fall 2025. We are thrilled that 31 of these students have decided to make the University of Iowa and UI REACH their college home this year. We cannot wait to see you all during summer orientation this July. During Bridge Camp, incoming students will have the opportunity to learn about the campus and the program, explore Iowa City, and hang out with their new classmates. Be sure to check out our Instagram account this summer for introductions of the new Hawkeyes.

Another 50 students will return to campus with the incoming students in August, making this fall another record-breaking year for UI REACH. Year Three and Four students will return to the Aspire West Campus community for experiences that are certain to promote independent living and executive functioning skills.

Adaptive Equipment Closet

Introducing the Adaptive Equipment Closet. This resource was created a little over a year ago by former Occupational Therapy Intern, Avari Everts, and Abby Goldberg, former Therapeutic Recreation Intern and now UI REACH Career Program Specialist. Since the closet has been updated over the year, Everts wants to spread the word to students and families about the Adaptive Equipment Closet. Located in the UI REACH Office, the closet contains various adaptive tools that can be used across multiple areas that UI REACH emphasizes (i.e. independent living, career, academics, student life, etc.). Along with the tools, there are many resources to explore, ways to learn about more types of adaptive equipment, assistive technology apps/extensions, and more. The Adaptive Equipment Closet is available for all UI REACH students to try the tools before making the decision to buy them. If you are interested in learning more or have any questions, feel free to reach out to Abby Goldberg at abigail-goldberg@uiowa.edu, and she will happily get back to you in the fall.
