Graduating students stand in a group on the Old Capitol steps, wearing their caps and gowns.

On May 9th, we celebrated 22 students as they donned their graduation gowns and received their UI REACH certificates. The ceremony included music, remarks from University of Iowa President Barbara Wilson, Dean Daniel Clay, and UI Police Officer Alton Poole, and speeches from Simon Janelle, Tyler Mumm, Matthew Springer, Jackie Corless, Eli Mogil, and Benjamin Stangl. As Benjamin said in his speech, “Now, let us embrace what the future has for us with hope and courage. Let’s take the lessons that we’ve learned here and use them to create the world that reflects the best of who we are when we’re driven to our fullest potential.”

In addition, five UI REACH students participated in the College of Education undergraduate ceremony on May 15th at Hancher Auditorium featuring Brad Kelly, Restorative Practices Coordinator for the Iowa City Community School District.

We are so proud to see every UI REACH student and alumnus continue to strive towards their fullest potential!
