Happy "Where Do You Work?" Wednesday! This week meet alumna Anna Foley (BA ’12, Elementary Education).

This is Foley’s fifth year teaching at Lakewood Elementary in Norwalk, Iowa. She has spent the past four years teaching fourth grade, and spent her first year as an educator teaching third grade. Foley also volunteers as a coach for the nonprofit organization Girls on the Run.

“I love teaching in a small community where it is family and school focused,” says Foley. “I absolutely love our staff because we have created a positive and collaborative culture at Lakewood. We are always pushed to be the best teachers and to find the leader in all of our students.”

Foley also earned endorsements in reading and English language arts from the UI College of Education.

“I think my experiences on the University of Iowa campus and being involved in leadership roles was really beneficial to me,” says Foley. “My student teaching experience completely shaped my ideas of teaching, as did the many methods courses that helped me with reading, writing, and social studies.”
