JeanAnn Starcevic

It’s our favorite day of the week… “Where Do You Work?” Wednesday! This week meet alumna JeanAnn Starcevic (B.S. ’98 in Elementary Education with a reading endorsement).

Originally from Albia, Iowa, Starcevic has been teaching for 27 years, 20 of those teaching first through sixth grade in the Newton Community School District.

Starcevic says she enjoys teaching reading and writing to her students as well as building meaningful relationships with them.

“I love building a rapport with my students and seeing [them] grow academically by the end of the school year,” Starcevic says.

Starcevic says that the College of Education provided her with a variety of opportunities to help prepare her as a teacher.

“The College of Education prepared me [through] receiving a good education, a great student teaching experience in Cedar Rapids, and by taking part in a Reading Clinic where I worked with various ages and reading levels,” Starcevic says.
