Pam Wesely, associate professor of Foreign Language and ESL Education in the University of Iowa College of Education, shares her expertise and discusses why learning a foreign language is important on Iowa Public Radio's Talk of Iowa.

Iowa ranks 35th out of all states and the District of Columbia in the number of students studying a world language.

"It's important for people—not just to get into college, but also for life, and for jobs, and for being a global citizen," says Wesely, who is also president-elect of the Iowa World Language Association.

Other guests are Professor of Spanish and Chair of Department of World Languages and Cultures at Iowa State University Chad Gasta, Spanish teacher at Pella Christian High School and President of Iowa World Language Association Jason Noble, and Associate Professor of English as a Second Language at DMACC Katie Menec.
