What does your job entail in the Iowa Reading Research Center?
My job entails supporting the daily operations of the Iowa Reading Research Center. I also get to dabble in special events. Over the last two years, I’ve helped plan the Iowa Science of Reading Summit.
What is your favorite part about working at the College of Education?
The people and the opportunities. Over the past three years, I’ve had the privilege of working with wonderful individuals, several of whom have given me opportunities to explore new roles and experiences both within and beyond my department.
What are your hobbies, interests, or special talents? What would colleagues be surprised to know about you?
I’m a proud rescue dog mom, I enjoy jigsaw puzzles, personal finance, and watching the latest true crime docuseries/documentaries. I volunteer for the worldwide non-profit, Lasagna Love @lasagnalove.org. I’ve been a volunteer for three years and recently moved into a larger role overseeing the volunteer base in 13 counties in eastern Iowa. Feeding families, spreading kindness and strengthening communities is a wonderful thing.
Where is your favorite place to eat in downtown Iowa City?
St. Burch Tavern
What is something on campus that you look forward to participating in or doing?
I enjoy spending lunch breaks on the campus Tree Tours hosted by the Pentacrest Museums. We have many unique trees on campus.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go? (No limitations)
My ancestors are from Ireland/Scotland/Wales. I’d love to spend a few weeks in those countries.
