An interdisciplinary team of College of Education and College of Engineering faculty were awarded with an Obermann Center for Advanced Studies Interdisciplinary grant for virtual mathematics education for teachers. 

The grant, entitled Immersive Virtual Mathematics Education for Teachers, is lead by assistant professor in special education Seth King, assistant professor in mathematics education Anne Estapa, and assistant professor in electrical and computer engineering Tyler Bell.

The grant will help provide educators with opportunities to practice effective mathematic instruction that has the potential to improve the performance of student in special and general education settings and will support building an automated, virtual reality simulation capable of guiding, correcting, and assessing teacher candidates. 

The purpose of this project is to help train teacher candidates to effectively deliver mathematics education to children who struggle with mathematics, including children with disabilities.
