Two of the University of Iowa College of Education’s online graduate programs have earned national recognition by U.S. News & World Report.
The college's online master's programs—Master of Arts in Teaching, Leadership, and Cultural Competency (MATLCC), and Master of Arts in Educational Leadership—are now ranked No. 25 in the nation, which is up six spots from their previous ranking of 31.
MATLCC gives students the knowledge and teaching strategies to tackle today’s key education challenges. The program provides conceptual frameworks, strategies, and tactics to help empower educators and fuel their success as an educational professional.
The MA in Educational Leadership is an accredited Iowa school administrator licensure program that prepares students for appointments as school principals and for positions in area education agencies as well as state departments of education.
“This ranking reflects the fact that our online MA programs in the College of Education are taught by experts, focused on credentials and development that educators want, and constantly changing and transforming to meet the needs of the field,” says Pam Wesely, the College of Education’s associate dean for faculty and graduate education. “We are so proud of our graduates, who contribute so much to education in the state and the country!”
Programs were ranked based on multiple factors, including faculty credentials and training; services and technology; student excellence; peer assessment; and engagement, defined as a combination of best practices, graduation rate, class size, one-year retention rate, and time to degree deadline.
