Last year, UI REACH launched a new initiative in partnership with Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services (IVRS) wherein students with disabilities aged 14-21 were supported in exploring post-graduation options and resources. Students and their families met monthly to review possibilities including employment, employment training, trade school, technical college, and attending programs like UI REACH. Students also participated in a weeklong summer camp during which they lived on the UI campus, took field trips to local businesses and formed friendships with other program participants. A total of 11 students completed the program in February 2024. The second cohort for Project EXPLORE has begun. If you know a high school student with a disability who may be interested, please contact Katie Abrams kathryn-abrams@uiowa.edu or Brian Campbell brian-d-campbell@uiowa.edu.
