We hope you are having a great “Where Do You Work?” Wednesday, Hawkeyes! This week meet alumna Stacy Karam (B.A. ’97 Elementary Education with an endorsement in reading).

Karam, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has been teaching for 23 years. She works as the Program Manager for the Program for Academic and Creative Talent (P.A.C.T.) at McKinley STEAM Academy in Cedar Rapids. She has been working at McKinley for 10 years.

“I love seeing kids develop passion and creativity, and I love it when kids accomplish things they weren’t sure they were able to do,” Karam says.

Karam is thankful for the skills she gained and the field experiences she had during her time at the University of Iowa College of Education.

“The UI College of Education gave me so much confidence in my ability to facilitate learning with students of all ages,” Karam says. “I was given such wonderful field experiences, and learned so many skills that I use every day in my job.”

In her free time, Karam loves spending time with my husband and their two sons as well as traveling, reading, walking, kayaking, yoga, and boating.

“Every day I am so thankful that I made the decision to become an educator,” Karam says.
