Wednesday is here already so that means it is time for another “Where Do You Work?” Wednesday! This week, we are featuring alumnus Lee Rabe.

Originally from Ottumwa, Iowa, Rabe graduated from the University of Iowa in 2004 with a Bachelor of Music degree and teaching licensure.

“When I graduated I felt confident in my abilities to compete for a job position because of my field experiences, classwork, interview, and portfolio preparation,” says Rabe of his experience at the University of Iowa.

Rabe has been working in the Iowa City Community School District for seven years as an elementary band instructor.

Rabe’s favorite part about being a band instructor is introducing the world of music to students, “I help kids find an identity as an instrumentalist that they did not know was possible,” says Rabe.

Rabe’s involvement in the music department at Iowa helped him in many ways inside and out of the classroom. “My varied experiences helped me to arrange music regularly for my church, coordinate extra travel experiences for my students, and confidently provide quality musical training for my students,” says Rabe.
