Happy “Where Do You Work?” Wednesday! This week meet alumna Joni Anderson (BA ’04 Elementary Education and a specialization in Early Childhood Education).

Originally from the outskirts of Chicago, Joni Anderson started her career teaching preschool at Chelsea Piers (CP) Kids Early Learning Center and Preschool in New York City. She later moved into administration at CP Kids Early Learning Center and now works as the Educational Director. As Educational/Admissions Director, she interacts with parents on their journey to find the best educational experience for their child and also develops relationships with many other schools throughout NYC.

Anderson says she loves working with such a young population and being a part of their early growth and development.

There are so many milestones that take place during the early childhood years and I feel very lucky to get to help facilitate growth, a sense of community and love of learning from a young age,” Anderson says.

Anderson’s experience at the University of Iowa College of Education gave her a strong foundation to begin teaching.

“I left Iowa with a wealth of experience in the classroom that made the transition into my own classroom very smooth,” she says. “The UI College of Education gave me the confidence I needed and made my transition into graduate school much easier.”
