Happy “Where Do You Work” Wednesday! This week we are highlighting alumna Holly Bonfig-Becker (MA ‘19 Psychological and Quantitative Foundations).

Bonfig-Becker is originally from Dundee, Iowa, and currently works as an Instructional Service Specialist with the Radiation Sciences program at the UI College of Medicine. She has been working there since 2013.

When she began her work as an Instructional Service Specialist, Bonfig-Becker felt inspired to get her online teaching certificate and MA from the UI College of Education.

“I realized when I started my position with the Radiation Sciences program I realized that I was very confident in my knowledge of Radiology but I could use some help in my educating portion,” Bonfig-Becker said.

Since completing her degree from the college of education, Bonfig-Becker feels she has become a better, more well-rounded educator.

“It has helped me restructure my courses, face to face and online, it allowed me to share new information, techniques, and technologies with my co-workers, and it encouraged me to continue learning which is why I am currently pursuing my EdD in Interdisciplinary Leadership,” Bonfig-Becker said.

Bonfig-Becker loves that when she teaches her students a skill, she gets to watch it almost immediately transferred into real-life application in their clinical rotations.

“It is very fulfilling to see and the coursework for my MA really helped me to change some aspects of their clinical and didactic learning to help them get the best results,” Bonfig-Becker said.
