Happy “Where Do You Work?” Wednesday! This week meet alumna Heather Buckley (BA ’03 Elementary Education, ’12 Principal Licensure).

Buckley is the principal at Cardinal Elementary School in Eldon, Iowa. This is her fifth year in the role. Prior to this position, Buckley was a shared curriculum director for the Pekin and Cardinal school districts in southeast Iowa.

“I love finding a new opportunity each day to help students grow, and being able to instructionally lead and support teachers and staff in their professional practice is also very fulfilling,” says Buckley. “I also love my job because of the fun, collaborative environment I get to be part of. I work amongst an outstanding team of dedicated and caring staff members.”

Buckely says that she is grateful for the content and coursework that helped to shape her into the leader she is today.

“The program helped me identify my values and beliefs as a school leader so I can better serve others,” says Buckley. “The professors and my advisor went above and beyond to provide feedback on my work and support me as I pursued leadership opportunities and transitioned into my first administrative role.”
