It’s time for another “Where Do You Work?” Wednesday! This week meet alumna Codi Sammons (BA ’14 Elementary Education). 

Sammons teaches second grade at Roundy Elementary in Columbus Junction, Iowa. This is her fifth year working in the Columbus Community School District. 

Sammons says she loved everything about teaching in college, but getting to teach in Columbus Junction has made her even more passionate about her job. 

“My classroom represents the unique culture this community brings, and pushes me to be the best teacher and learner I can be,” she says. 

Sammons says she is forever grateful she chose the University of Iowa to pursue her higher education. 

“I wouldn't be the teacher I am today without the support received from my professors at the UI College of Education,” she says. All of the practicum and field experiences in elementary schools around Iowa City prepared me for my first day of teaching back in the Fall of 2014.”
