Happy “Where Do You Work?” Wednesday! This week meet alumnus Andrew Branan (BA ’03 History,’04 Certification in Social Studies, MA ’15 Social Studies Education).

Branan just completed his fourth year as a secondary social studies instructor at Linn-Mar High School in Marion, Iowa, teaching AP Psychology, Intro Psychology, Sociology, and Government. In the fall, Branan will transition into a new position with Southeast Polk High School in Pleasant Hill, Iowa.

“I love the day-to-day interactions I have with my students and having the opportunity to see them grow in their interest in the social sciences,” says Branan. “I love having the chance to foster an attitude of inquisitiveness in my students as they look to see how they fit into society and culture.”

Branan says he is thankful that the UI College of Education helped him develop skills to create a student-centered classroom with a focus on multiculturalism and social justice.
