Dan Snyder

“I’ve always loved my job because of the fact that I get to impact young kids’ lives. It is a very rewarding profession, but I don’t get to see the end result until they graduate,” Dan Snyder (BS ‘90) says.

Snyder is in his 27th year of teaching at Central Lyon Community School in Rock Rapids, Iowa. He currently teaches fifth grade and coaches the boys’ track team.

As both a teacher and coach, Dan has always stressed to students how important it is to balance academics and athletics.

Snyder says the College of Education was lifesaving for him.

“At a time when I was at a cross road in life, an education professor stopped me and asked me why I wasn’t majoring in education,” he says.

Snyder’s words of wisdom to students are, “if you work hard and keep your nose out of trouble, good things happen.”
