University of Iowa College of Education students gathered to listen to a panel on student teaching featuring three College of Education alumni: Laurie Zaiger, a seasoned art education supervisor; Will Stockman, a math teacher at Benton High School; and Havilah Peters, an English teacher at City High School on Friday, Jan. 12 in the Baker Teacher Leader Center.

Panelists discussed working with a cooperating teacher, how to be an engaging student teacher, tips for classroom management, and how to find balance between student teaching and personal life.

This panel was part of the Student Teaching and Job Preparation Workshop, a collaborative event sponsored by the Office of Student Field Experiences and the Pomerantz Career Center. Participants enjoyed panels and discussions hosted by teachers, administrators, and career advisors, and received advice on student teaching, job searching, and interviewing.

Approximately 60 students participated in the Student Teaching and Job Preparation Workshop. Eighty-eight students will be student teaching this semester.
