Two College of Education alumni are serving in new leadership roles with the University of Iowa Center for Advancement.

Jesse Meyer (MA ’12) of Chicago, Illinois, has been selected as the new College of Education representative, filling the critical role vacated by Chung.
Chung, the assistant superintendent of human resources for East Maine School District 63 in Des Plaines, Illinois, was selected as the ALC representative for the college in 2022. He was appointed as the new chair at the ALC’s 2024 spring meeting on campus.
Chung holds a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education from the University of Iowa College of Education, and he earned his Master of Arts and Doctor of Education in educational leadership from National Louis University. He also earned a Certificate of Advanced Study from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Meyer is the former senior director for major gifts and college campaign director at the University of Chicago. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Chicago, a Master of Arts in Higher Education and Student Affairs from the UI College of Education, and a doctorate in sport management from the University of Kansas. He recently started a career in wealth management and financial planning.
The Alumni Leadership Council serves as the university’s alumni advisory body and includes alumni representation from colleges, units, and areas across campus. Members serve up to two, three-year terms. Council members leverage their professional and personal experiences and relationships to provide vision, direction, leadership, support, advocacy, and constructive feedback to the UI Center for Advancement staff.
