Amira Nash, associate director of partnerships and programs in the Baker Teacher Leader Center, received a grant from the Community Foundation of Johnson County for her project, Recruitment & Retention of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) Teacher Education Students.
The grant, totaling $4,500, will help support current BIPOC Teacher Education Students, while recruiting new students to the program.
"Representation is so important. I am so excited to help diversify Iowa's teacher workforce so that other students of color in Iowa won't need to wait until college to have a teacher that looks like them," says Nash.
