Happy “where do you work?” Wednesday! This week, we want you to meet alumna Dusty Persinger (MA ‘19 Educational Policy and Leadership Studies.)

Persinger is originally from Coggon, Iowa, and now works as the Academic Support and Retention Coordinator for the University of Iowa Academic Support and Retention. She has worked here for a year but has been working in higher education since 2014.

Persinger loves that her work allows her to support many people on a variety of journeys.

“Students have different majors, interests, backgrounds, and life experiences,” Persinger says. “I get to help them navigate it all and reach their goals! It's an honor and privilege when someone chooses to share something about their life with you. I'm grateful for the work I get to do and every one I get to meet.”

Persinger is thankful for her time at the University of Iowa College of Education and all of the people she got to meet. The HESA faculty, her assistantship supervisors, her colleagues, and her cohort all helped her reflect, see new and different perspectives, gain skills, and grow.

“I loved my HESA experience and the support I received to become a better professional and resource for students,” Persinger says. “My time as a master's student was a wonderful part of my own journey!”
