We hope you’re having a great “Where Do You Work?” Wednesday, Hawkeyes! This week meet alumnus Brett Caskey (M.A. ’17 Educational Policy and Leadership Studies: Higher Education and Student Affairs).

Originally from Crescent, Iowa, Caskey works as a College Success Advisor at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Before accepting his position at Iowa Western Community College, Caskey worked at Colorado State University for two years.

Caskey loves working in student affairs but especially loves helping first-generation and transfer students navigate the systems of higher education.

Before returning to the University of Iowa College of Education for graduate school, Caskey was actually a transfer student himself.

“I was a transfer student who attended the University of Iowa’s Tippie College of Business during undergrad,” Caskey says. “After returning to the College of Education during graduate school, I learned I can help other students like me succeed in college. I can provide them with the help I never had and connect with them as a fellow transfer student.”

Caskey is thankful for the experience he had during his time with the College of Education.

“I appreciate my graduate experience within the College of Education, specifically with Educational Policy and Leadership Studies, giving me the basis to learn about and explore diversity, equity, and inclusion within me and in the world around me,” Caskey says.
