Happy “Where Do You Work?” Wednesday! This week meet alumna Jennifer Redenius (’12 Elementary Education).

Redenius is in a Secondary Instructional Coach with the Glidden-Ralston and Paton-Churdan school districts. This is her fourth year with the school districts, working as a Language Arts teacher before entering her current role. Prior to this position, Redenius was a language arts instructor at the Clinton Community School district and a reading and speech teacher at North-Linn Community School District.

Redenius is also an adjunct professor in Educational Foundations at Buena Vista University and teaches Educational Psychology at Iowa Central Community College.

“I love getting to work with students of all ages in a variety of content areas. My work challenges me every day, and I love that no two days are the same,” says Redenius. “Education is so important, and I love feeling that every day I go to work I have the opportunity to make a difference in the life of my students.”

Redenius is grateful to the College of Education for the support she received from faculty and the hands-on teaching experiences provided.

“I would not be where I am today without the teacher preparation I went through at the College of Education. I appreciated all the opportunities I had to get into classrooms before I graduated. The best learning experiences are authentic, real-world experiences you only get from working or observing in other classrooms,” says Redenius. “I loved all the faculty and still feel like I can contact them. Those relationships are invaluable, and I am thankful for the rapport my professors built with me and with my classmates.”
