Museums: Potential to Promote Deep and Lifelong Learning

DescriptionPublic education is at the core of the services that museums provide. Join Bridget Nash, Education Specialist for the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum, in a virtual exploration of the educational role of museums, which will include discussion of how education theory is used in museum programming, and how museums offer an alternative classroom in which to engage students in the learning process.

Learning goals: 1) Examine learning theories as they apply to museum learning environments.  2) Examine learning theories as they apply to museum learning environments. 3) Devise strategies for engaging students in inquiry-based discussions and activities. 4) Examine how museums can serve as contexts for community participants, agency, and social change.
