Please register hereBTLC Credit: IS, STEAM

Presenters: Kay Ramey, Assistant Professor of Learning Sciences and Educational Psychology and Darrell Currington, Makerspace Facilitator

Description: *This workshop is required for participation in the STEAM track.* In this workshop, students will learn how they can best fit STEAM into their classrooms. This will include a discussion of how to integrate tools, knowledge, and practices from different STEAM fields, align activities with standards, and assess STEAM learning. Students will then have an opportunity to practice designing and creating a STEAM lesson plan and discuss standards alignment and assessment strategies for that lesson. Please bring a laptop to the workshop if possible as you will need it for some of the hands-on and collaborative activities.

Learning Goals: 1) To learn how to design and facilitate interest-driven, inclusive, and culturally sustaining STEAM activities. 2) To learn how to align STEAM learning activities with disciplinary content areas and standards, and to develop assessment plans for such activities.
