The Department of Educational Policy and Leadership Studies (EPLS) administers programs designed to prepare education leaders, teachers, professors, and researchers in the fields of higher education, student affairs, educational leadership, culture and society, institutional effectiveness, and school systems.

Programs

EPLS Research Lab

The EPLS Policy Studies Computer Lab is located in N494 Lindquist Center. It was created in the summer of 1996 and contains a multitude of hardware and software resources for both IBM and Macintosh platforms.

Designed to facilitate research and policy analysis by faculty and graduate students, the EPLS Lab also assists professors and teaching assistants with classroom instruction. By enhancing the division's commitment to teaching, research, and service, the EPLS Lab plays an important role in the EPLS division's preparation of future researchers and policymakers.

Andrew Wirtz honored for inclusive approach to gifted education, dissertation research

Two-time University of Iowa College of Education alumnus Andrew Wirtz was recognized at the Iowa Talented and Gifted Conference for his dissertation that recommends adding arts and music to advanced education programs, for which he received the David Bills Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award.
