The English as a Second Language (ESL) Endorsement program prepares students to teach ESL in K-12 contexts. The number of English learners in schools is growing nationally and locally. Iowa is home to more than 28,000 English learners that represent over 70 home languages. This is a 260% increase over the past 20 years. In the ESL Endorsement students learn important concepts and strategies for effective and ethical English language teaching and they gain a competitive edge when applying for jobs.
