Supporting adolescents’ mental health in the age of smartphones and social media

Presenter: Jacqueline Nesi, Assistant Professor at Brown University, Dept. of Psychiatry, and co-founder of Tech Without Stress 

Description: In this workshop, Dr. Nesi will share the latest research on social media and smartphone use, including key risks and benefits for adolescents. We'll explore practical, science-backed tips for navigating common digital challenges and promoting healthy social media use. Finally, we'll discuss strategies for supporting adolescents' self-esteem and mental health in the age of social media. 

Learning Objective: 1) Understand the research on adolescent social media use and mental health. 2) Gain awareness of tools to facilitate healthier digital technology use in adolescents. 3) Identify behaviors that promote self-esteem and mental health in the age of social media.
