Understanding the Unique Needs of Gifted LGBTQ Students

Description: Underrepresented and minoritized students can have significant and unique challenges in K-12 school environments. Individuals with intersecting identities of gifted and LGBTQ+ can have different academic, social, and emotional experiences throughout their development. This conversation will highlight the issues gifted LGBTQ+ students face and how educators can have a positive impact on their school experiences and increase school-wide support for safe and inclusive environments.

Learning Goals: 1) Understand the intersection of gifted and LGBTQ+. 2) Identify issues of gifted LGBTQ+ students. 3) Discuss role of educators in having a positive impact for LGBTQ+ students.
