Description: The session on reading and vocabulary development aligns with the Core Principle of developing learners' skills and supporting their intellects. This session will focus on how to deliver and facilitate content learning for multilingual learners through reading and vocabulary development scaffolding strategies, such as using visuals, structured pairing, and graphic organizers, while also focusing on oral proficiency development.
Learning Goals: 1. We will learn about vocabulary and reading as predictors of academic achievement and discuss useful concepts that help us think about the importance of reading and vocabulary for student learning. 2. We will discuss reading and vocabulary development scaffolding strategies to deliver and facilitate content learning for multilingual learners.
