Understanding Poverty & Stress in K-12 Students

Description: This introductory session will cover foundational information regarding the scope and depth of poverty in our schools. We will consider the relationship between poverty and stress as well as implications for students and communities. We will conclude with a discussion of how we can support students who are experiencing poverty and related stressors.

Learning Goals: 1) Learners will recognize the problem of poverty in the U.S.; 2) Learners will be able to state the relationship between poverty and stress; 3) Learners will discuss ways to support students who are experiencing poverty and related stressors
