I am an essayist and storyteller with an MFA in Creative Nonfiction from the Nonfiction Writing Program at The University of Iowa. I served as the Provost’s Postgraduate Visiting Writer for the 2016-2017 academic year at Iowa, which gave me the opportunity to teach the top-tier creative writing students of the university. I have taught a wide range of classes at the undergraduate level, including: Foundations of Creative Writing, Art and Craft of Personal Writing, Writing for New Media, Art and Craft of Creative Nonfiction, among others. I hold a second Masters in Creative Writing from Auburn University and am originally from the tiny town of Ashland, Alabama. I am completing my first memoir, Happy Girl, this year, which explores the consequences of female inheritance, southern motherhood, and adolescent awakenings.
