Test Required
Iowa law [Iowa Code 256.16 1.a.(2)] requires teacher preparation colleges and universities to adopt a state-approved assessment that teacher candidates must pass, as a requirement for completion of teacher preparation. The University of Iowa Teacher Education Program (TEP) has selected edTPA as this assessment, and since the Spring, 2018 semester has required completion of edTPA for all student teachers who are completing the TEP for initial licensure as teachers. The Iowa Department of Education provides additional information about the program completion assessment requirement.
NOTE: This testing information is for completion of the Teacher Education Program. See Teacher Education Program Application and Admission for information about Praxis I, Praxis Core, or GRE testing for admission to the Teacher Education Program.
