More about Maisa Kaarna

Nationality:
Swedish
Biography:

Maisa Kaarna and her husband bought former factory and turned it into their studio, Villa Roosa. Kaarna's brightly colored rugs share an interest in color relationships and composition with Mark Rothko's abstract painting. The similarity was pure coincidence, but Kaarna was pleased when she first saw Rothko's paintings: "My surprise and my delights was great! After all, they were just like a rug sketches."*
