Presenter: Roosevelt Montás, senior lecturer in American Studies at Columbia University

Please join us for a series of workshops on what can be done to strengthen general education—as students move into STEM, business, health, and other pre-professional fields—to ensure that college students, whatever their major or background, encounter inspiring works of literature and philosophy and grasp the power of the humanities and its relevance to their professional aspirations.

This workshop will feature Roosevelt Montás, senior lecturer in American Studies at Columbia University and Rene Plessner Lecturer for its Freedom and Citizenship program, discussing his new book, Rescuing Socrates: How the Great Books Changed My Life and Why They Matter for a New Generation (Princeton University Press).

Each workshop in this series will run from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. EST. All workshops are free and open to current grantees and prospective applicants.

Please make sure to log this workshop on ICON after you attend to generate the workshop certificate!
