Friday, April 27, 2:00 - 3:30 p.m.

Presenter:  Dr. Timothy J. Lensmire, Professor Teaching & Learning, University of Minnesota

In this session, Lensmire will draw on his new book, White Folks: Race and Identity in Rural America, to explore how rereading white people and their/our stories might open up possibilities for antiracist pedagogies and action. He will share stories from Delores, William, and Frank, and use the writings of the Reverend Thandeka and Ralph Ellison, among others, to examine the roles that white people take up as racial actors in our society and what playing these roles does to them.

A limited number of books are available for participants to read before the talk. Please email to get a copy.
