The challenges experienced by K-12 students with learning differences (e.g., specific learning disabilities) are often wide-ranging. Although most educators recognize the impact of such learning differences on overall academic achievement, the social and emotional aspects of learning differences often go unrecognized or unaddressed by school personnel.  This workshop is intended to increase pre-service teachers' awareness of the psychosocial needs of students who may have specific learning disabilities, attention problems, giftedness, and/or other learning differences. This workshop will also provide practical recommendations for intervention and accommodation within the classroom.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa-sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this program, please contact the Baker Teacher Leader Center, 319-335-5623, in advance.
