Online Workshop (Asynchronous)

Please register online. TLC Credit: Traditional, UI REACH, SEL

In this session, you will learn about a high school for students in the foster care and juvenile justice systems where the SEL model is woven into the fabric of academics and school culture. Our Plan for Peace and Justice teaches positive behavior change through transparency, student voice and mediation. Takeaways include: implementing a schoolwide SEL model and support, improving communication and decreasing violence, and creating community that extends beyond the classroom.

C.B. Community Schools is a small, private high school in Philadelphia, PA, for vulnerable young people in the child welfare system. C.B. uses a healing-centered model, competency-based academics and a culture of social and emotional learning. Empowering our students to build agency and empathy through peaceful, positive communication, students gain the skills to heal, learn and grow as they find a clear path forward toward independence.
