Presenters: Dr. Laurie Croft and Dr. Randy Lange

This session will engage students in a discussion of their perceptions about gifted education, look at Iowa Code as an example of state requirements for school districts to serve advanced learners, and look at the endorsement process, comparing Iowa and Illinois. Who are gifted learners and why do they need special programming? (Check out federal law: Every Student Succeeds Act—ESSA—to see what was included in the update to No Child Left Behind (NCLB) legislation.)

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa-sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this program, please contact the Baker Teacher Leader Center, 319-335-5623, in advance.
