TLC Commons (N110 LC)

Presenter: Jeremy Williams, I-SERVE Veterans Resource Specialist

This workshop presents what you need to know about military service members, veterans, and their families. The process of serving in our military and becoming a military family involves unique stresses and transitions in the military member’s service process. The family is involved in different types of information communications, events, experiences, life styles and vulnerabilities. It is important that teachers, members of the helping professions and our communities understand the unique types of military service, the cultures involved in the military, the structure and patterns of service in the military branches of service to fully serve and support them. The particular characteristics of our military service community here in Iowa will be an important aspect of this focus. Mr. Williams has successfully balanced a 16-year part-time US Army career, to include one full-year deployment to the Middle East and three international training missions to Europe, with civilian careers in healthcare and now education.
