We welcome you to attend an exploratory forum, and panel discussion, hosted by the College of Education’s First-Generation College Student Taskforce. The purpose of this event is to initiate dialogue regarding the experiences, challenges, needs, and successes of current, and prospective, First-Generation College Students at the University of Iowa. First-Generation College Students (FGCSs) are broadly defined as students’ whose parents, or legal guardians, did not complete a bachelor’s degree; subsequently, this includes students who may be the first in their immediate family to attend college. As this population continues to grow, the need to acquire an understanding of the experiences of FGCSs at the University of Iowa becomes apparent.  The primary goal of this exploratory forum, and panel discussion, is to facilitate dialogue that will support our efforts.
