The UI Center for Human Rights invites you to join us for a free screening of Philomath Films award-winning documentary Shakespeare Behind Bars, followed by a Q&A with the founder and producing director of the Shakespeare Behind Bars program, Curt Tofteland. Now in its 22nd consecutive year, Curt currently facilitates seven Shakespeare Behind Bars programs in two Michigan prisons serving over one hundred prisoners each week.

Funding for this event was generously provided by the UI College of Education, the Department of Theatre Arts (Arts Across Borders), the Oakdale Community Choir, the Department of Teaching and Learning, and the UI School of Music.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa–sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this program, please contact Kathrina Litchfield in advance at or 319-321-4997.
