Monday, February 20, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
W151 Pappajohn Business Building

Presenter: Kristin Panos, PhD student, Special Education

During Part One of this workshop, presenters will outline and illustrate key issues in determination of special education eligibility for English Language Learners (ELLs). Participants will have the opportunity to discuss and ask questions about considerations for assessing and evaluating ELLs. In Part Two, presenters will model (1) navigation of the "Institute for Educational Sciences- What Works Clearinghouse" website and (2) interpretation of an intervention report, a practice guide, or an individual study review. Participants will then apply information about evidence-based instructional practices for ELLs to a hypothetical special education eligibility vignette.
