The National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) has a campaign that urges all educators to “Teach” gifted children using strategies that respond to their need for both different “depth” and “pacing.”  The Iowa Department of Education developed a tool entitled MTSS for Advanced Learners (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) that lists the strategies all classroom teachers should be prepared to use for advanced learners at the Universal, Supplemental, and Intensive tiers.  We will also review a list of “low-preparation” and “high-preparation” differentiation, ensuring all participants feel confident in explaining best-practices for differentiation for gifted children.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa-sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this program, please contact the Baker Teacher Leader Center, 319-335-5623, in advance.
