Presenter: Charles Limb, Surgeon

Charles Limb is a doctor and a musician who researches the way musical creativity works in the brain. He is a Professor of Otolaryngology -- Head and Neck Surgery and the Chief of the Division of Otology, Neurotology and Skull Base Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). In search of a better understanding of how the mind perceives complex auditory stimuli such as music, his research looks at the brains of improvising musicians and studies what parts of the brain are involved in the kind of deep creativity that happens when a musician is really in the groove.
